Why should you have your vision checked regularly?

Your eyesight naturally changes over time. Even a slight decline can lead to daily discomfort—such as eye strain, headaches, or blurred vision. A regular eye check-up helps identify these changes early and ensures that your vision correction remains effective.

Recommended frequency:
• Every 5 years for adults under 45
• Every 2 to 3 years after the age of 45 (especially to monitor presbyopia)
Annually for children or individuals with known eye conditions

Keeping your vision regularly monitored also ensures that your glasses or lenses remain optimally suited to your needs—providing clear and comfortable vision every day.

What does French regulation say?

Since 2016, certified opticians in France are authorised, under certain conditions, to renew your eyewear following an in-store vision test—without requiring a new ophthalmologist appointment.

You must:
• Present a valid prescription (between 1 and 5 years old, depending on age and type of equipment)
• Be 16 years or older
• Not suffer from eye conditions that require ongoing medical supervision

This service saves valuable time and helps reduce the pressure on ophthalmology clinics, which often have long waiting times.

⚠️ Please note: We cannot issue new prescriptions or provide medical diagnoses. If you are experiencing unusual symptoms or have any doubt, a consultation with an ophthalmologist remains essential.

How does an eye test work at Paris Miki?

Your vision test is conducted by appointment with one of our qualified opticians and includes several steps:

  1. Personal consultation – We take the time to understand your vision needs, lifestyle, and any discomfort you may be experiencing.
  2. Visual testing – Using state-of-the-art equipment (autorefractor, lensmeter, etc.), we assess your visual acuity with precision.
  3. Correction analysis – If necessary, we adjust your current prescription and recommend the most suitable lenses or contact lenses.
  4. Clear feedback – We explain the results and help you select the best eyewear with confidence.

🕊️ The eye test is  free with the purchase of new glasses from our store.

In case of emergency or lost/broken glasses

If your glasses are lost or broken and you’re unable to see an ophthalmologist quickly, our opticians may exceptionally renew your eyewear based on a valid prescription.
